I will definitely be a loyal customer. This is the only thing I would try on the menu though! Haven't tried others. If you look at the menu, this is the most valuable. And I LOVE THEM RIBS.
Back on my second visit to BREKO at Holland V. for their ribs! Don't tell me it doesn't look delicious. Everywhere I eat, ribs are overpriced, Chilli's are way overpriced, maybe it's worth the money, but the price doesn't get me to try. I'm trying to say that this is the cheapest ribs in Singapore, and it's baby back ribs. I counted 10 racks The last time I ate here, it was nice. But when I came back again, the meat is so tender, I could pull out the bones clean. Okay most importantly, the price. It's only $18.50!!! I will definitely be a loyal customer. This is the only thing I would try on the menu though! Haven't tried others. If you look at the menu, this is the most valuable. And I LOVE THEM RIBS. If you do not know where it is, try looking out for WALA WALA, CRAFT, Everything With Fries, and you'll find BREKO.

Finally had the chance to try Ippudo. Have been wanting to try since don't know when. Everything was nice, slightly overpriced for ramen though. Maybe location and rental can be used as an excuse. Have been craving for ramen often recently. I also had a piece of pork bun ($3.5) which was delish but a little too ex for that portion. I'll always go for the spicy ramen. This was ($21/23) I guess? What is a good ramen to me? As long as it is more towards asian or chinese egg noodles rather than those that looks like freaking pasta or spaghetti. Definitely worth the try, but can't visit often. By the way, the queue was damn long and the restaurant is small...
This is far better than I expected it to be. I went to Jcube to skate today, and so we dropped by JEM to have dinner. I didn't think my dinner would be that good, the kitchen only has a brigade of 4 and the restaurant sits about 40-50. I ordered the lamb saddle with mashed potatoes, seasonal veg (carrots and haricot verts), mint puree or something and veal Jus. $22.80 As you can see, it's literally a lamb saddle cross section, so there's 2 loins which is equivalent to having 2 racks. I think it saves cost and meat because there the racks wont have to be trimmed. There are only 2 doneness available, medium well or well done. I think that's because it is precooked to save time, but it doesn't matter. It's really good. It was an open kitchen and we can see the kitchen from the window, the chefs were moving non-stop. I would look for a job there if it's located in Tampines. But it's located at the other side of Singapore. I don't know about other ambush outlets but this one is good. By the way the restaurant was full during dinner service. And I will check out the outlet at Plaza Sing too. They have Poulet, Duck Confit, Chargrilled Ribeye, Salmon, Chilean Seabass (Cod), and braised lamb shanks! Haha I'm only promoting the meat menu because I am a meat eater. There are german sausages, and pastas too. JEM
#04-13 6694 0895 Takashimaya #B2-01/02 Junction 8 #02-19 Plaza Sing #04-64/66 It's been a long time guys. Sorry, have been busy with school. Throw back 12/12/13. IG bonding session. Dinner and time was well spent. My virgin experience at Swee Choon. Not the most accessible place, but definitely worth the walk. We walked from Bugis MRT man. Wa split into 2 tables. And my table is filled with gluttons. A list of what we ordered: Har gao/Ha gow, Chilli oil wanton, Siew Mai, Portugese egg tarts, Plain noodle with onion and oil, Dan Dan la mian, Xiao long bao (of course), Liu Sha Bao (Custard bun), Banana and Prawn Fritter, some pan fried noodle, Chee Cheong Fun, Steamed pork ribs, Red bean pancake, mango pudding, Mango and Pomelo sago, Longan Tofu, and lots of other stuff I forgot. Definitely one of the best dinners I had especially with such great company. What I liked were the plain noodle with onion and oil, the xiao long bao, the custard buns to die for, the red bean pancake, the mango pudding and maybe the man and pomelo sago. Others I felt were just normal. It was also my first time eating a Liu Sha Bao, I never thought I would eat a Liu Sha Bao, but they ordered so I ate, I don't like custards like those in western pastries. So i thought it would be something creamy, eggy, or something like that. But I didn't know it was a bun filled with delicious liquid. So I bit into it, and it was all over. DAMN. Overall. I'll be back. And when I see I'll be back, it means you can try the food. I won't return to a restaurant I don't like, makes sense? Oh and we sat in the back alley because we needed such a big table. Rustic "Alfresco" Hong Kong feeling. Great company. Will definitely be back for dinner or supper! Address: 191 Jalan Besar, Singapore 208882 Phone:6225 7788 Hours: 6pm-6am Closed on Tuesdays. Nearest MRT Farrer Park, Bugis, Lavendar, Little India. Just across the street from Mustafa's new extended building. Astons. Remembered when it first appeared? I can't. Oh well, an example of success? Simple, quick, affordable. I've tried a lot from Astons and I settled down on Teriyaki Chicken since don't know when. & ever since, it has been Teriyaki Chicken, both sides onion rings. EVERY single time. So Astons Feast (Sounds like Heston's Feast which is actually a book by Heston Blumenthal) with the classmates today. Fish & Chips Ribeye X'tra cut [200g+70g=270g] Confirm not accurate. They don't even butcher their own meat. LOL. My Teriyaki Chicken, as you can see. Teriyaki Chicken, sides both onion rings. Their Teriyaki Chicken is actually barbeque sauce to me. If you actually eat both their barbeque sauce and teriyaki sauce you won't find any difference, but after while, you'll realise their teriyaki taste better. Oh well, whatever they call it. It's one of the best 'barbeque' sauce to me. Grilled Fish. Type of fish not stated. Think it's John Dory. My friend says it taste weird. Whatever reason I don't know. Forgot to mention their prices went up more than $2 for everything in a year. And there's still customers. Funny how the human mind works. But anyway, all photos credit to Edmund. Lazy to take mine. He actually zoom in to everyone's from his seat. Oh well, enjoy the pictures from his angle. Ciao!
Casa Verde translates to Green House in Spanish or Italian. Well, the name of this restaurant has its meaning because it's located in Singapore's Botanic Gardens on the left of the visitor's centre. It is an all day dining restaurant. Casa Verde is also one of the only pet friendly restaurants in Singapore. What's more? The experience of Alfresco dining with so much fresh oxygen provided by the thousands of greens in the garden! Casa Verde serves breakfast, Italian food, local food and at night, it turns into a restaurant serving European Cuisine with Risottos, Steaks, Raviolis and so on.. I have been dining at Casa Verde almost on alternate days during my last few weeks at Au Jardin. Both restaurants are under the same group, Les Amis and are only 1 minute walk apart. In the day. Looks good at night huh? You have to take your order at the counter, but they will serve your food to you. & there's absolutely no service charge. On top of that GST is inclusive. Unlike dining in finer establishments where the 17% is on top of your bill, you can enjoy delicious food here too! The spaghetti bolognese [$16] is darn good. Better than the one I had for $22 [supposed to be a larger portion than the normal one] at a celebrity's restaurant who boasts of making their pastas in house. Compare this with that? This would win hands down. It went down my throat in less than 5 minutes. My chef agrees that their bolognese is good too. So what if pastas are not fresh made? Dried pastas are everywhere in Italy, so do not have a misconception that fresh pasta is better, it is simply just fresher. Above everything else I am enjoying employee prices at the moment so I am enjoying it as much as possible! If I could cook a bolognese this good, I would be very happy. This Hawaiian Beef Burger [$17.50] was damn good too. It has ingredients you find on a Hawaiian pizza like pineapples and ham with a homemade sauce or whatever sauce it is as long as it tasted damn good. When my colleague ordered for it to be well done I was shocked. But this is the best well done I have tasted! If I am at Botanic Gardens and I just want to have a fulfilling lunch with food up to standard and not disappointing my palate, while enjoying a meal with my pet [even though I don't have one now] Casa Verde is the very best place. Roast Beef on Ciabata [$13.50] In my honest opinion it's not as good as the Hawaiian Beef Burger, but I wasn't disappointed or whatsoever. A decent sandwich just nothing extraordinarily delicious. Carbonara [$15] You might not realize but this was double the portion of the bolognese I had. I rather they double the portion of the bolognese than this. Carbonaras are very heavy if you use cream instead of cooking the Italian way, so it is easy to get very sick of it. I mean nothing bad with more, but sometimes less is good. I think different people cooking, no portion control. The lady beside me had a bolognese with this kinda portion too. I think I would return for the bolognese itself. You can try this, there's nothing bad about it, just too much for me. Finally got to try the Pizzas! Pizza Margherita - Tomato Salsa and Mozzarella [$21] I think that this was the best of the 3. This time it was my colleagues treat. Haha, reason why this is my favourite: it's simple, the way Italians cook, I like the crust it's thin, fresh and the dough of the crust has a hint of sweetness. I can finish an 11 inch of Pizza Magherita myself. The classic Margherita Pizza would have tomato, mozzarella, basil and extra virgin olive oil. Pizza Diavola - Tomato Salsa, Mozarella and Salami [$23]. Well, I am a meat lover so having salami onto the margherita and calling it Diavola wouldn't make a difference! When I wanted one more piece of this, the plank was empty.. Pizza Alla Braceria (Blanco/Rosso) - Mozzarella, marinated minced beef, porcini mushrooms and parmesan [$24]. This is the most expensive on the menu besides Sfilatino Casa Verde. However this is my least favorite... Not sure why, but maybe the beef and rosemary is too overpowering.. My favorite would still be a good Hawaiian Pizza! I am looking forward to dining at Mozza and I will post on that asap when school reopens. 1 more week left, I'll definitely come for the bolognese before my last day at Au Jardin. Last return visit for the bolognese before school starts. This time the meat was more than the pasta HAHA. Tmr will be the last 3rd day. My battery flat already. By Sunday will be 0%... And school starts on Monday. Hahahaha, haish~ Visitor's Centre, Singapore Botanic Gardens

You'll be amazed by the choices that they provide for just 1 course. Normally restaurants keep their lunch menu simple but not for Au Petit Salut. Flaked Smoked Haddock with Beetroot, Hibiscus puree and Go Kiku flowers. First time eating haddock, presentation was nice but it didn't taste as nice as it looked. I would say their starters does not sound appetizing but I would have to taste before I know. But I think it is difficult to have popular starters on the lunch menu because of cost and Singapore's set lunch menu ranges from $30-$45 on average. Baked Burgundy Snails, on Bone Marrow with Garlic and Parsley butter. Another choice for starters, escargots are classic in French Restaurants. I have to say this wasn't the best I had maybe because the taste of garlic and butter wasn't strong enough. Trofie Pasta with Braised Iberico Pork, melted leeks and thyme. +$12 The pasta was good, but the air-dried/dehydrated crisp iberico tasted more like bacon I don't know why. Maybe it's just normal Iberico. The braised Iberico was good but I would rather have a ragu than a cream sauce. In my opinion, it's good but it's not worth another $12. Bavette Steak, 'Pommes Mouseline, fricasee of sweet corn and Bruseel Sprouts. Basically a flank steak, steak was done well as it came medium rare like i asked. However, I don't know if this dish is done by 2 person. The reason why I think it's done by 2 person is the flank was okay, the pommes mousseline was delicious but the fricasee of sweet corn was miles over seasoned. I hope it's not a commi or intern that did the fricasee because I am going to speak up for interns and commis. I understand that restaurant minimise interns of handling the cooking of food because they are afraid that things might go wrong with taste and seasoning but they got to give us a chance because even experienced cooks can go wrong with that ! I literally took a mouth of it and pushed it aside because I'm afraid I'll have hypertension if I finished just that portion of fricasee. (I am exaggerating) just to emphasize how salty it was. I am wondering if the person who prepared that knew how much salt he put into it. I mean if it's a fricasse of SWEET corn that let the sweetness of the vegetable and corn speak for itself, not much seasoning is needed because to me I rather have my vegetable under seasoned than over as vegetables can be eaten with their natural taste, nothing wrong with that. However, Pommes Mousseline was delish! It's basically a very indulgent way to make mashed potato like the French would with butter content almost equivalent and relevant to that of a hollandaise sauce because French love to use butter and cream which makes everything taste that much better. Well, that very much sums up this dish. Soya Cheese Cake with with Wild Strawberry Compote, Vanilla Crumble and a Jasmine Sorbet. For people who do not like the richness of cheese cakes, this is a perfect alternative because it does not drift too far from how a cheese cake should be but it's light like how you would compare a sorbet with a gelato. The sesame tuile is nice too. Best part of the dessert, JASMINE SORBET. tasted as refreshing and cleansing to rinse your palate. Creme Caramel. Another wrong decision by me. I should have went for the Choux bun filled with vanilla ice cream, warm chocolate sauce and sliced almonds. When I tasted it, I expected it to taste like caramel (DUH) but it tasted weird. My friend tasted it and told me that the caramel was burnt. (I didn't know how burnt caramel tasted like, NOW I KNOW) Lesson learned and taste noted) LOL. Menu is priced at $38++ because GST & service charge is not inclusive. If you like to head there for lunch, make a reservation or you may walk in. Please do not head to holland village MRT like I did because Holland Village MRT is nearer to Chez Petit Salut Bistro (Also under the Salut Group). Head to Orchard Mrt, walk to Orchard Boulevard and take 7,174 and other buses that go to Tanglin Village, opposite Botanic Gardens. This is if you know how to walk in, because it's a 7-8 minute walk if you know the way, but it might take 30 minutes if you don't. Another Option, you may take a cab. From either Orchard MRT or Holland Village MRT it would be about $5- $6 off peak. Another clue to get there, it's just opposite The White Rabbit. People usually get there by car but if you know the way, cheapest way of transport will do. Au Petit Salut
40C Harding Road Singapore 249548 T: 6475 1976 *Note: Reservation is done through an app online. So you may place your reservation at any time. Monday - Saturday Lunch 11.30-14.30 (Last Order) Dinner 18.30-22.30 (Last Order) http://www.thesalutgroup.com/en/about-us/ I delayed the publishing of this post till now because of some reason. So, on my off day, I went to the new outlet at that time which opened at Suntec just next door to Pepperoni Pizzeria and PACK'D which are all under the same restaurant group. There was a long queue during lunch hours. I wanted to go there because I did not taste the street food when I was in Vietnam on a school trip for hygiene reasons and since this cuisine and style of food is brought to Singapore, I wanted to give it a try. NamNam's Noodle Bar. BANH MI translates to Baguettes. They have a set lunch which consists of a couple of Southern Spring Rolls which taste like popiah in Singapore, a choice of pho chicken/beef and drinks at $9.90 too. Vietnamese condiments provided on the table. Southern Spring Rolls from the Set lunch menu. Pho Chicken. This is very light and it has a piece of lime to go with all the pho and noodles for a hint of acidity to make the noodles more appetising. I had the a la carte Dry Stewed Beef Noodle. The typical condiments found in all the dishes are Asian flavors; coriander, chilli, scallions/spring onions. This picture does not do the dish justice because I was about to start eating it when it was served to me and i forgot to snap a picture. It's not spicy as long as you don't take a bite of the seeds from the chilli, the beef was stewed well and falls apart from pulling and it wasn't tough and chewy. A pity Vietnamese food is not the spicy kind or else i think a spicy broth cooked hours for depth of flavor would be mouth watering. I ordered the Caramelized 5-Spice Pork Belly, Pork Pate to share. The baguette was hard and crispy on the outside and fluffy-airy on the inside. I would say it tasted like Kong Ba Pau (Braised Pork Bun). It's not bad, but I would still prefer something I ate from young which is Kong Ba Pau, with the sweet and soft-fluffy sweet steamed buns and braised mushrooms. Deep-fried Banana, Sesame Seeds, Warm Smoked Coconut Sauce. Tasted exactly like Goreng Pisang (Fried Bananas/Banana Fritters) in Singapore but a slightly sweeter version as this is from the dessert menu. SERVICE The service was fast. When you are there, do not join the cashier queue first. Ask for a table from one of the service staff before joining the queue. Take an order list and state the quantity of any dish you would like to have before your turn comes at the cashier or you can just wait to be seated if you have time and the service staff will give you an order list, but you will still have to queue up to take your order at the cashier. As it is a new outlet, there are trained staff, and new ones. BUT I would say I still like the service better than I was at Jamie's Italian. No offence and with utmost respect but not only was i more disappointed with the food at Jamie's with a higher level of expectation with that reputation of cooking, but my bill was $31.60 for 2 at NamNam and $29.50 for myself at Jamie's even before GST and Service Charge there. On top of that, even though it's not a fully serviced restaurant, your food is served to you and GST is inclusive! Not to mention that I had a portion of taglietelle and a portion of "posh" fries which was soggy at Jamie's Italian which the chefs should reflect on. Enough said, as you can see I am still dreading on my experience at Jamie's and it would take me a little more time before I return to try the entrees at Jamie's. Chef of NamNam was there for the opening too, I think Jamie's opening would have been better if he was there himself for the opening for a few days to leave a better impression and have a better quality control instead of looking to open 3/4 restaurants a year when he can't be there. If you are looking for a place to celebrate your partner's birthday, an anniversary or something meaningful, come by for dinner! You may call and special stuff can be arranged. Au Jardin holds events too like birthday celebrations and weddings. Here's some pictures to go with this post. A la carte Scallop Ceviche for Dinner. Roasted Irish Beef Tenderloin. Oven-roasted Magret Duck Breast, yam gnocchi, cauliflower & carrot puree Katafi wrapped Qwehli Prawns with Sweet Basil, Seafood Risotto, Brussel Sprouts & Sorrel. Confit of Ocean Trout, white onion puree, asparagus gratin, violet potatoes & crustaces mustard sauce. Chocolate "Au Jardin" Manjari chocolate cream with soft chocolate cake, coffee “Caviar”, crème de cacao jelly and chocolate ice cream. Poached Figs with syrup, mousse, granite and sorbet. Asparagus risotto finished with truffles also on the special menu for vegetarians yesterday. This was a gift from the host. I hope you enjoyed the pictures and look forward to having you at Au Jardin soon! I will be having my stint till... 20 October. I will not be posting often for the next month because I only have time to sleep unless i bring my laptop to work which is very troublesome. So yeah I'll try to post on my off days. Ciao!
EJH Corner House Singapore Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre Cluny Road, Singapore 259569 Tel:6466 8812 Opening Hours: Lunch Tuesdays to Fridays only 12.00pm to 2.00pm [Last Seating] Dinner Tuesdays to Sundays 7.00pm to 10.15pm [Last Seating] Sunday Brunch 11am to 1pm Note: Au Jardin might be bought out for events on certain days, so do make reservations in advance to avoid disappointment even though walk-ins are accepted! ;T Finally got a chance to dine at TopTable. CIA as in Culinary Institute of America. Not Central Intelligence Agency. Minute i walked in, I was like, not fair. The tables were covered in cloth unlike dining at TopTable when TCA students were cooking and serving. The glass was different too. However, we had to pay a tad more. I ordered a cocktail to start with which was $10 and i suggest you don't get it because it's nothing alcoholic even though the server said it contains about 4 types of alcohol? Without further ado, let me begin this post. This is the cocktail that was described to be similar to Long Island, i rather top up to get a decent glass of wine. $10 Seabass Ceviche, which looks more like a salad, $5. Personally I think the menu for appetizers wasn't very appetizing, maybe for convenience sake because the restaurant is run by students and there is nothing worse than disappointing the guess when the menu looks awesome but the food is crap. The menu at TopTable is kept simple. And a Seabass Ceviche at $5 this is quite decent. However, there is a better choice on the menu! Chef Gypsy's Award-wining Sting Ray Cake with Petite Salad greens and Soy Lime dressing. Guess what? This has the same price as the Seabass Ceviche, so why not get this? The cake is filled with full of Stingray meat and well seasoned. There's a touch of spice in the cake which makes you think of Singapore's Sambal Stingray, but i would never have thought of doing something Thai like a deep fried fish cake with Stingray meat! Thumbs up for this. It's surprising when you think of the array of things u can use to make a croquette or a deep fried-whatever cake. Seriously, this is 10 times better than the Ceviche and I would go back to TopTable when school re-opens just for this. The seafood risotto, $12. My friend said it wasn't creamy as expected, and it's kind of watery like a porridge. I wouldn't comment much on it, since I did not taste it myself. Maybe the person cooking this forgot to fold in the butter off the heat instead of on the heat hence, the butter split. That is if there is butter inside, I don't know, didn't taste it. This is what I ordered, Braised Pork Belly with a apple parsnip puree and some sauteed greens, $10. which was burnt and they gave me a platter of fruits on the house as a way of apologizing. Nothing much to say, because I feel sorry if I were to say that it tasted like what I would get at the Kway Chap stall opposite school, and I would actually prefer to have the one at the Kway Chap stall. However, the only thing that I liked on the plate was the potato puree, it was sweet. What I would like and would've done is a piece of crackling pork belly or I would have done a suckling pig and carved it. That layer of fat would have been nicely rendered down. Another thing is the juice you see on the side, is trotter juice and the color is no where near what my senior had and she actually has a picture of it, the trotter jus was darker and was a better reduction, this however was greasy. Nonya Pineapple Lattice Tart with coconut ice cream, $5. I forgot the name of the dish, but it's kind of a frozen souffle and maybe the best of the 3 we ordered. $5 I ordered sorbet and ice cream, $4. Nothing much, just a simple dessert. The bill was $86 for the 3 of us. However, if we did not order 2 cocktails, the bill would've been $66. All in all, quite a bargain with good service staff, staff dedicated to setting up table, staff dedicated to your table and overall it was pleasant. The server found out we were CCM students by eavesdropping too. Haha, certainly hope the menu would change with more delicious meat for entrees because I love meat. And there is nothing wrong that can go wrong with meat, if you choose a proper quality, season it well and cook it properly. Meanwhile, I'll be having the time of my life working as a commis for the holiday! Ciao, do drop by TopTable and show some support for Singapore's future generation in the F&B industry. My turn in the kitchen next year.
